Commercial printing and color
A screen preview is not a physical print proof. Displays generally show RGB color, while commercial print workflows may require CMYK, spot colors, an output profile, and specific PDF standards. Paper, ink, finishing, and printer settings can change the result.
PDF export does not by itself guarantee a printer-approved, CMYK-converted, PDF/X-compliant, or press-ready file. Confirm the required specifications with your printer, use a suitable preflight tool, and obtain a proof before committing to a production run.
Before sending a file to press
- Confirm the final trim size, page order, bleed, crop marks, and safe margins.
- Check image resolution at its actual printed size, transparency, and linked or imported assets.
- Inspect font embedding, missing glyphs, ligatures, line breaks, equations, and substitutions in the exported file.
- Verify colors, color profiles, overprint requirements, and the PDF standard requested by your printer.
- Inspect the actual exported file and a printer’s proof rather than relying only on the editor preview.
Typography, imports, and web output
Font metrics, browser rendering, device capabilities, and imported document formats can produce differences in layout or pagination. Font availability and licensing may affect embedding and redistribution. Review the output in the readers, browsers, and devices you intend to support.
You are responsible for permissions to use fonts and other assets you supply. A successful import or export does not verify the underlying rights or guarantee accessibility, citation accuracy, or compliance with a particular publication standard.
Autosave, collaboration, and backups
Autosave and collaborative synchronization help preserve edits, but they do not replace independent backups. A connection interruption can delay synchronization. Browser storage can be removed by browser settings, storage pressure, a profile change, or device failure.
Export important project files and check that they can be reopened. Keep a separate copy on another device or a backup service you control. Before clearing browser data, changing accounts, or closing a project permanently, confirm that the work you need has been saved independently.
Responsibility and your rights
You are responsible for production approval and for checking output before printing or distribution. To the extent permitted by law and subject to the Terms of Service, we are not responsible for reprint costs, wasted materials, color shifts, font substitutions, or other production losses arising from unverified output.
